Blackhills Report

What a great weekend this past weekend was.

We saw a new found running attack at Fort Cherry with Kolby Kobrys had 30 touches(1 reception) for 251 yards in a 31-21 win over Carlynton. Chartiers Houston gave Clairton all they could handle but fell short 22-20. Monessen rolled to 35 first half points in a 42-13 win over California. For the most part Canevin kept Imani grounded in their 21-7 win. And finally Brentwood rolled Serra in a 48-0.

This weekend is judgement weekend for 4 teams; Chartiers Houston, Biship Canevin, Monessen, and Brentwood. Both of these games; Char Houston @ Bishop Canevin and Monessen @ Brentwood are the top 2 match ups of the weekend. Another great match up will be Fort Cherry @ California. Clairton will head up to Carnegie to take on Carlynton while Imani Christian heads to Serra Catholic.

I think CH has too many weapons for BC to handle in David Kincaid, Miles Williamson, Conner Craig, and Javon Hairston, and CH should win by 2-3 TD’s over BC.

Brentwood vs Monessen features quite the interesting match up. It ultimately boils down to who wins the LOS battle and the biggest battle will be between Justice Rawlins(All American LB Monessen) and Justin Vickless(RB Brentwood). Monessen does feature Chavas Rawlins(QB/WVU commit) and outside weapons in Clintell Gillaspie, Javon Brown, and Keith Davis. All in all I think Brentwood features the better team. This game should live up to the hype.

Fort Cherry and California are both rebuilding programs after losing a lot from last years playoff teams. I tend to believe that FC is the better program and should win with relative ease.

Question is how will Clairton rebound after playing possibly its worst game in 4 years. After the Laurel loss 4 years ago, Clairton pounded Monessen 46-0. I expect a similar result when the Bears take on Carlynton.

Imani is a new WPIAL program taking on a Serra Catholic program that was in the State Championship 5 years ago. Its crazy to see how fast the Serra program fall off the map after Rich Bowen left. Imani will get their first WPIAL win this Friday night.

Chartiers Houston 35 Bishop Canevin 20
Monessen 14 Brentwood 35
Fort Cherry 28 California 7
Clairton 55 Carlynton 0
Imani 35 Serra 0

Hope everyone enjoys their week. I’m going to post my picks for all Wash County schools later in the week.
